BaseCamp XL Expedition Pulk Sled
Engineered for extended winter travel where increased volume and stability are essential. Built on the proven BaseCamp platform, the BaseCamp XL delivers an extended 59-inch hull to carry heavier gear loads, group supplies, and bulky equipment without sacrificing tracking control. It locks into its line through crusted snow, sheer ice, and tight timber—eliminating side-slip and roll so you can move efficiently under heavy payloads.
KEY ADVANTAGES
  • Extended Hull & Increased Volume: Extra length handles larger, bulkier expedition setups and heavy gear configurations with ease.
  • Uncompromising Stability & Tracking: Low-center-of-gravity XLPE hull stays locked on line across steep side-hills and hardpack without fishtailing or tipping.
  • Overbuilt & Field-Serviceable: Reinforced stress points, 4130 chromoly hardware, and modular components ensure long-term reliability on remote, multi-day routes.
  • Zero-Interference Pole Geometry: Side-mounted poles keep rigid linkages completely clear of your hips and legs for an uninhibited, natural stride while skiing or snowshoeing.
  • Rapid 2-Buckle Duffel Transition: The extended-capacity main load detaches in seconds via two heavy-duty buckles, keeping gear organized and speeding up camp setup.
  • Integrated Backpack Carry: Ergonomic shoulder straps transform the sled into a pack instantly for river crossings, pressure ridge portages, and transit logistics.
BUILT FOR PEAK PERFORMANCE

Extended High-Density XLPE Hull
Rotomolded from Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLPE) across a 59-inch length for maximum cold-weather impact resistance, structural rigidity, and smooth glide performance over abrasive, crusted snow under heavy loads.

4130 Chromoly Pole & Linkage System
Utilizes high-strength 4130 chromoly steel tubing for the side-mounted tow poles. Engineered to withstand intense torsional forces, heavy shock loading, and increased pull weight without bending or bowing.

Heavy-Duty 1,000D Cordura® Load System
High-capacity main gear compartment constructed from 1,000-denier Cordura® nylon—delivering extreme tear resistance and complete protection from severe winter weather.

Fully Adjustable Ergonomic Harness
Front and rear harness adjustment points distribute heavy load weight evenly across your core, maintaining proper pole geometry across any waist size or winter clothing layer.

XLPE Sled Hull

Sled Hull Geometry

The sled hull was designed with advanced stability and traction. Engineered for maximum glide on flat and grip on sidehills and turns.

Seamless Hull Integrity

Our process yields a completely uniform wall profile, eliminating the stretched thin spots and failure points common in thermoformed hulls.

Chromoly Steel Poles

Built from high-grade 4130 chromoly steel. They weigh slightly more than aluminum alternatives, but the added strength and dependability are well worth it. If a pole is bent in the field, it can often be bent back into shape rather than failing outright.

Welded

Welded for a durable, dependable connection designed for years of hard use. The same class of steel is commonly used in roll cages and motorcycle frames.

Bent

The bend creates a yoke style pole system that improves sled handling, steering, and control while keeping the load centered behind the user.

Powder Coated

Our poles are finished with a baked-on powder coating for excellent resistance to chips, abrasion, and corrosion far more durable than ordinary paint.
